Egyptian Drug Authority Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Angola’s Medicines Regulatory Agency to Enhance Pharmaceutical Cooperation Between the Two Countries
As part of efforts to strengthen Egypt’s role in supporting health and pharmaceutical systems across the African continent, the Egyptian Drug Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Angolan Medicines Regulatory Agency (ARMED), on the sidelines of the meetings of the Egyptian–Angolan Joint Committee, held in Luanda from 10 to 12 December 2025.
The signing of the MoU reflects the growing standing of the EDA as one of the leading regulatory reference authorities in Africa and highlights the increasing confidence of sister nations in Egyptian technical expertise and its ability to lead initiatives aimed at developing pharmaceutical regulatory systems, exchanging knowledge, and building capacities.
The MoU was signed on the Egyptian side by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Badr Abdel Aaty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, on behalf of the Egyptian Drug Authority, while it was signed on the Angolan side by H.E. Mr. Teté António, Minister of Foreign Affairs. This step reflects the strength of bilateral relations and the shared commitment of both sides to advancing frameworks for pharmaceutical and health cooperation.
The MoU represents a pivotal milestone within the Egyptian Drug Authority’s strategic efforts to enhance the access of Egyptian pharmaceutical products to African markets and to open broader horizons for industrial and regulatory cooperation. It also contributes to supporting trade exchange, improving the efficiency of pharmaceutical supply chains, and enhancing healthcare services provided to citizens across the continent.
This agreement further extends the Egyptian Drug Authority’s approach to expanding its regional and international partnerships and strengthening integration between the state and private sectors, in support of Egypt’s Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development, while reinforcing Egypt’s position as a key supporter of the development of the African pharmaceutical sector.
