Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority Meets ""Sun Pharma"" Representatives to Discuss Industry Support, Industrial Expansion, and Export Expansion
The Egyptian Drug Authority held a meeting with representatives of Sun Pharma at the Authority’s headquarters in the New Capital, chaired by Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, and attended by several EDA executives and company representatives.
The meeting was held as part of the Authority’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that support the development of the pharmaceutical industry, advancing industrial and export expansion plans, and providing a regulatory environment that encourages investment.
Both parties discussed several priority topics, including ways to enhance the company’s investments in Egypt to support its expansion into foreign markets. This aligns with the Authority’s strategy to encourage pharmaceutical exports and increase access to regional and international markets. The meeting also covered mechanisms for implementing the company’s factory expansion project, which would contribute to increasing production capacity and enhancing competitiveness.
The discussion also highlighted the Authority’s commitment to supporting training programs that improve professional competence and qualify personnel for the labor market in accordance with the latest approved standards.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the EDA emphasized the Authority’s commitment to providing the necessary regulatory facilitation to support global companies’ expansion plans within Egypt, including accelerating registration procedures and strengthening quality systems.
He also stressed that the Authority continues to develop the pharmaceutical work environment to maximize the competitiveness of Egyptian pharmaceutical products, support access to promising markets, and serve the national strategy of increasing exports and achieving pharmaceutical security.
Participants from the EDA included Dr. Rasha Ziada, Assistant Chairman for Professional Development and Capacity Building, Dr. Yassin Ragai, Assistant Chairman for Media Affairs and Investment Support and Supervisor of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Care, Dr. Osama Hatem, Associate to the EDA Chairman for Policy and International Cooperation and Supervisor of the Central Administration of Pharmaceutical Policies and Market Access, and Dr. Mohab Fadi, Head of the Central Administration for Pharmaceutical Licensing.
Representing Sun Pharma were Dr. Ali Omar, General Manager for Egypt and the Middle East, Dr. Mahmoud El-Shenawy, Factory Manager, and Dr. Rasha Gamal, Head of Registration.
This meeting reflects the strategic direction of the EDA aimed at supporting pharmaceutical investment, enhancing local manufacturing, and developing human capacities, thereby contributing to establishing Egypt as a leading regional hub for pharmaceutical production and distribution.
