EDA Chairman Discusses Investment Prospects in the Pharmaceutical Sector with Mr. Mohamed Abou El-Enein
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, held a meeting with Mr. Mohamed Abou El-Enein, businessman and Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, as part of the Authority’s commitment to strengthening communication with national leaders and prominent figures in investment and industry.
The meeting addressed the current status of the Egyptian pharmaceutical market, which has witnessed significant growth recently driven by regulatory reforms, support for local manufacturing, and the adoption of flexible policies that help achieve a balance between investment requirements and market needs.
Both sides also discussed promising investment opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector, particularly in localizing the industry, technology transfer, and expansion in the production of strategic pharmaceutical products, in a way that enhances Egypt’s ability to meet domestic market needs and opens broader horizons for export.
The meeting reviewed the increasing growth rates of the Egyptian pharmaceutical market and highlighted Egypt's prominent position in Africa. As one of the largest and most important pharmaceutical markets, as well as a pivotal hub for manufacturing and distribution, qualifying it to play an influential regional role in supporting pharmaceutical security across the continent.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Ghamrawy affirmed the EDA’s commitment to supporting an attractive and stable investment environment based on transparency and equal opportunities, and to encouraging serious investments, thereby contributing to sustainable development and enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian pharmaceutical sector regionally and internationally.
For his part, Mr. Mohamed Abou El-Enein expressed his deep appreciation for the EDA’s vital role in developing the pharmaceutical system, praising the Authority’s continuous efforts to upgrade the regulatory framework, enhance quality and governance standards, and ensure the availability of safe and effective pharmaceutical products for Egyptian citizens.
The meeting comes within the framework of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s strategic vision aimed at strengthening partnerships with all relevant stakeholders, supporting the growth of the pharmaceutical market, and solidifying Egypt’s position as a regional hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing and trade in Africa.
