EDA Discusses Enhancing Cooperation in Medical Devices with Edwards Lifesciences and Capital Eye
Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held an extensive meeting with representatives of Capital Eye for Public Policy and Strategic Communications, headed by Mr. Mahmoud Hatem, CEO, and Edwards Lifes ciences for Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, headed by Mr. Fabian Manian, Vice President. The meeting aimed to explore ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the field of medical devices.
At the outset, Dr. El-Ghamrawy welcomed the participants and emphasized the Authority’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with leading global companies in a manner that contributes to advancing the medical devices industry in Egypt.
He highlighted that the EDA continues its efforts to support strategic partnerships with leading international companies, stressing the importance of localizing and transferring advanced technologies to Egypt. He added that the Authority seeks to boost local manufacturing and increase production capacity to meet patients’ needs for medical devices domestically. This comes within the framework of enhancing national pharmaceutical security and reinforcing Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub for pharmaceutical products and medical devices.
Edwards Life sciences reviewed its activities in the field of structural heart disease devices and heart valves, emphasizing its strategic role in supporting the sector. The company also presented its future plans to expand its presence in the Egyptian market and increase investments in local manufacturing.
Capital Eye showcased its expertise in public policy and strategic consulting, focusing on supporting effective communication between industry stakeholders and government institutions, thereby facilitating the implementation of national initiatives aimed at localizing pharmaceutical industries.
For their part, representatives of both companies praised the active role of the Egyptian Drug Authority in supporting industrial partnerships, affirming their commitment to enhancing cooperation in local manufacturing, technology transfer, and the provision of advanced medical devices, in a way that serves patients’ interests and supports the country’s development plans in this field.
This comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the Egyptian state and the Egyptian Drug Authority to strengthen pharmaceutical security, meet patients’ needs, and solidify Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub for the production and circulation of pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
