The Egyptian Drug Authority Discusses with Pharma Overseas Ways to Enhance the Efficiency of the Pharmaceutical Distribution System and Supply Chains in the Market
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held a meeting with representatives of Pharma Overseas as part of the Authority’s commitment to monitoring the movement of medicines in the local market, enhancing the smoothness of distribution, and reviewing commercial policies related to dealings with pharmacists in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
During the meeting, the workflow of the distribution system was reviewed, along with storage and transportation mechanisms, to ensure the availability of effective supply chains capable of supporting the continuous provision of pharmaceutical products across various governorates.
Both sides affirmed that the interests of pharmacists represent a key pillar in ensuring the stability of the pharmaceutical market, stressing that maintaining a fair and regulated environment for pharmacies is fundamental to supporting the sustainability of the supply chain and achieving balance among the different elements of the sector.
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy also highlighted the importance of integration between manufacturers, distribution companies, and pharmacies, emphasizing the Authority’s commitment to continuous oversight to ensure the availability, quality, and regular delivery of medicines to citizens.
For its part, Pharma Overseas reaffirmed its commitment to implementing responsible commercial practices that strengthen mutual trust with the pharmacy sector and contribute to enhancing market stability.
The two parties agreed during the meeting to immediately begin applying cash discount policies for pharmacists in accordance with the relevant decisions and regulations, reflecting their commitment to establishing fair and disciplined practices within the pharmaceutical market.
Attending the meeting from the Egyptian Drug Authority were Dr. Mohamed Al-Khatib, Head of the Central Administration of the Chairman’s Office, and Dr. Amira Mahgoub, Head of the Central Administration for Inspection of Pharmaceutical Establishments. From Pharma Overseas, attendees included Dr. Mohamed Gazzarin, Chief Executive Officer; Dr. Ahmed Said, Head of the Commercial Sector; and Dr. Joseph Philips, Head of the Sales Sector.
The meeting comes as part of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s efforts to strengthen the pharmaceutical distribution system, support stability in the local market, balance export support with meeting citizens’ medicinal needs, and ensure a stable and fair working environment for pharmacists.
