Egyptian Drug Authority: Completion of the Training Program on Cochlear Implant and Bone Conduction Hearing Systems in Collaboration with MED-EL
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has announced the completion of the specialized training program on cochlear implants and bone conduction hearing systems, organized by the Continuous Professional Development Center in collaboration with MED-EL, the global leader in hearing solutions.
The program aims to enhance participants’ capabilities in understanding hearing mechanisms, accurately diagnosing hearing loss, and familiarizing them with the latest internationally approved hearing solutions. This ensures the optimal use of modern medical technologies and improves patients’ quality of life. It also supports strengthened collaboration between medical and technical specialties to provide integrated and effective hearing services.
The program provided an overview of the latest technologies in cochlear implant systems, sound processors, and recent technical updates. It also reviewed traditional treatments compared to implantable solutions such as medical hearing aids, bone conduction systems, and cochlear implants.
Additionally, the program discussed the social and health impacts of hearing loss on patients’ quality of life, provided an overview of the implantation process and device fitting, and explored collaboration mechanisms between ENT physicians and audiologists. It also addressed key performance indicators, safety and effectiveness standards, and bone conduction hearing systems, including product portfolios, clinical indications, packaging, and labeling.
The program brought together a distinguished group of experts and specialists in audiology, ENT surgery, clinical research, medical report writing, and biostatistics, enriching integration among diverse medical and technical fields.
This comes as part of the EDA’s efforts to adopt the latest international practices in hearing solutions and to develop the skills of national professionals, supporting the enhancement of healthcare and pharmaceutical services and contributing to the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030 toward a more advanced and distinguished healthcare system.
