The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) Participates in the African Vaccine Regulatory Forum Workshop to Enhance Regulatory Preparedness for Pandemic Response
The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) participated in the workshop titled "AVAREF Pilot Contact Points", organized by the African Vaccine Regulatory Forum (AVAREF) in Congo.
The workshop addressed several pivotal topics, most notably formulating a strategic vision for developing the regulatory environment in Africa and enhancing its readiness to deal with emergencies in the context of clinical trials. The workshop also discussed a proposal for a practical training program aimed at raising the efficiency and skills of regulatory reviewers through applied case studies focusing on quality, clinical, non-clinical, and biostatistical aspects. Furthermore, it reviewed ways to strengthen African cooperation to place the continent on a leading path that makes it more prepared and resilient in confronting epidemics, and enhances its position in the global medical regulatory field.
Dr. Rania Ibrahim Hassan, Director-General of the General Administration of Clinical Studies, represented the EDA in the workshop.
This participation reflects the leading role of Egypt and the Egyptian Drug Authority in specialized international forums, and its continuous efforts in supporting regional and international initiatives aimed at developing the health regulatory system on the African continent.
