"Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority Participates in the Ministry of Health and Population's Conference on National Patient Safety Policies
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), participated today in the Ministry of Health and Population's conference on National Patient Safety Policies, which was held under the title ""Patient Safety for Leaders Workshop"". The conference was held under the patronage and presence of Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and with the participation of Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Projects and Public Health Initiatives, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Institutional Development, Dr. Nima Abid, Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Egypt Office, Dr. Ahmed Taha, Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation(GAHAR), and a high-level delegation of heads of relevant authorities and representatives of the WHO in Egypt.
The event is held in partnership with the WHO, within the framework of the Organization's efforts to support the Egyptian State's vision towards achieving the best healthcare standards in accordance with the approved international standards.
During the event, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the importance of continuous development in public health services and improving the quality of life of patients. Additionally, he pointed out that this event represents an excellent opportunity to strengthen the partnership with all pertinent stakeholders within the Egyptian healthcare system as well as with international and local partners, and to shed light on the efforts of the EDA in the field of developing ways to manage healthcare, supporting pharmaceutical education and awareness programs, and ensuring that citizens receive their pharmaceutical needs in accordance with the high quality, safety and efficacy indicators that the EDA aims to maintain through its robust regulatory system, which is represented in good manufacturing, storage and distribution practices, and market control during the process of trading in pharmacies, until the medicine reaches the patient’s hand.
He also explained that continuous training and education are one of the basic pillars in our strategy; The EDA is keen to train healthcare providers, as well as raise the awareness of all segments of society through various awareness campaigns and initiatives, and that the EDA, through the Center for Continuous Professional Development, holds periodic courses and workshops in all pharmaceutical fields for all concerned parties from pharmaceutical companies and factories and employees in government agencies concerned with health and pharmaceutical affairs.
This came within the framework of the EDA's keenness on continuous communication and effective participation in all health conferences and events, joint coordination and promotion of public health concepts, and integration between all institutions of the Egyptian health system.
