"Detection of Unidentified Medicines Worth More Than Six Million Egyptian Pounds in Five Unlicensed Warehouses in Sharqia, Gharbia, and Beheira
In coordination with various regulatory and security agencies, the Egyptian Drug Authority has intensified its extensive inspection campaigns on pharmaceutical establishments across all governorates during the current month of May.
Inspectors from the Egyptian Drug Authority branches in Sharqia, Gharbia, and Beheira governorates, in coordination with the Directorate of Supply and Internal Trade, the General Administration of Supply Investigations, and the Department of Free Treatment at the Ministry of Health and Population, raided four unlicensed warehouses and an unlicensed storage annex for a private pharmacy in a hospital. These locations were found to contain a quantity of unidentified medicines, without invoices, and stored in improper ways, in violation of good storage requirements.
Reports were prepared on the incidents, the seized items were impounded, and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution Office for necessary legal action. More than 45,153 different units of medicines, products, and pharmaceutical preparations were seized, with a total financial value of the seized items estimated at 6 million 350 thousand Egyptian pounds.
This comes as part of the Egyptian Drug Authority's efforts to control the drug market, maintain the quality, effectiveness, and safety of pharmaceutical preparations and medical supplies circulating in pharmaceutical establishments, and follow up on storage and trading locations.
