EDA Chairman Meets with Pfizer to Enhance Investment and Localization in the Pharmaceutical Sector
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the EDA, held a meeting with representatives of Pfizer, led by Dr. Amr Seif, Regional Manager of Pfizer for Egypt, Sudan, the Levant, and Iraq. This meeting comes within the Authority’s ongoing commitment to strengthening collaboration with global pharmaceutical companies and supporting the development of the pharmaceutical system in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Ghamrawy emphasized the importance of enhancing the pharmaceutical investment environment in Egypt, supporting innovation, and localizing pharmaceutical manufacturing, in alignment with the Egyptian state’s vision for achieving sustainable development and advancing healthcare services provided to citizens.
He also highlighted that the EDA is continuously working to strengthen cooperation with various international partners in the pharmaceutical sector, contributing to knowledge transfer, exchange of expertise, and developing a flexible and investment-friendly regulatory environment. This approach ensures a balance between fostering innovation and guaranteeing the safety and efficacy of pharmaceutical products.
For their part, Pfizer representatives expressed their pride in the long-standing partnership with the EDA, noting that Egypt is a key market in the region. They also conveyed Pfizer’s aspiration to expand cooperation in the coming phase, particularly in capacity building, training, and the exchange of regulatory expertise to support the development of the pharmaceutical system and enhance patient access to innovative therapies.
The meeting explored several areas of mutual interest, including supporting health awareness programs, capacity building, and the exchange of technical expertise to elevate the efficiency of human resources and adopt global best practices.
Additionally, Pfizer representatives presented their vision for expanding cooperation with the Authority to support the localization of pharmaceutical products and enhance the availability of safe, effective, and high-quality medications for patients.
The session concluded with a mutual commitment to continued coordination and collaboration in the upcoming phase, supporting the strategic objectives of Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the pharmaceutical system.
