In order to ensure public safety and the strength of the pharmaceutical market, an unlicensed location for manufacturing counterfeit dietary supplements was seized in Menoufia to promote them in drug warehouses and pharmacies.
The Egyptian Drug Authority, in collaboration with the General Administration for Supply Investigations, managed to apprehend an unlicensed location for manufacturing, packaging, and labeling counterfeit and imitation dietary supplements in Sadat City, Menoufia Governorate. This location lacked the required health conditions and good manufacturing practices, with the aim of distributing the products to drug warehouses and pharmacies for financial gain.
A full production line was seized, including four machines, approximately 2.955 tons of various raw materials used in manufacturing, 700,000 tablets and packets of various types of dietary supplements, as well as quantities of plastic containers and empty cartons prepared for packaging, in addition to quantities of the final products ready for marketing in warehouses and pharmacies.
The seized items were valued at 10 million Egyptian pounds, and a report was filed with the competent authorities for legal action.
The Egyptian Drug Authority urges all pharmacists and citizens to contact them through various communication channels to report violations related to pharmaceutical products or pharmacy establishments via the hotline 15301 or the official website.
This action is part of the Egyptian Drug Authority's efforts to regulate the pharmaceutical market and ensure the quality, effectiveness, and safety of pharmaceutical products and medical supplies available in pharmacies, as well as monitoring storage and distribution locations and raiding unlicensed premises."
