Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, received Dr. Isabel Afonso, CEO of Arcera Global, Dr. Mohamed Heshmat, General Manager of Amoun Pharmaceutical Company, a subsidiary of the Emirates Holding Company ADQ - Arcera - Abu Dhabi Investment Fund, and representatives from the company at the headquarters of the Egyptian Drug Authority, to discuss enhancing joint cooperation and increasing the production of pharmaceutical products produced by the company in the Egyptian pharmaceutical market.
Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy welcomed the company's delegation, emphasizing the Egyptian Drug Authority's commitment to strengthening its partnership with Amoun to enhance the Egyptian market and expand pharmaceutical exports. He highlighted Egypt’s strong pharmaceutical sector, known for its high-quality, competitively priced products and strategic location as a key export gateway to Africa. He also noted that Egypt’s well-established pharmaceutical industry, supported by a strong regulatory framework, provides a competitive edge in global markets. The collaboration aims to boost exports, leveraging Egypt’s reputation and its growing presence in international markets.
During the meeting, an overview of Arcera was presented, highlighting its role in the pharmaceutical industry and its vision for localizing significant pharmaceutical products to meet the demands of the Egyptian pharmaceutical market.
Discussions addressed key strategic issues to ensure the continued availability of vital medicines, emphasizing the importance of ongoing coordination between the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) and Amoun to strengthen pharmaceutical security.
The meeting also explored ways to expand cooperation, including future steps to streamline production and export operations, contributing to affordable pricing and the sustainability of the pharmaceutical sector.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Tamer El-Hossieny, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Raie, Director of the Registration Department at Amoun Company, and Mr. Walid Al-Hadi, General Manager of Public Relations and Governmental Engagement from the company.
