The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) announced the launch of an antimicrobial awareness initiative, as part of the Authority's participation in the UN Climate Change Conference "COP27" in November 2022, and in conjunction with World Antimicrobial Awareness Week

Initiative Objectives:

• Educating and raising community awareness on the importance of the rational use of antimicrobials, highlighting the dangers of their excessive use, and explaining how they should be managed and their impact on public health.
• Enhancing commitment among healthcare providers to raise awareness regarding published national and international guidelines on the safe and rational use of antimicrobials within healthcare institutions.
• Providing continuous medical education and training using a practice-based approach for members of antimicrobial stewardship teams in institutions, community pharmacists in public pharmacies, as well as pharmacy students at universities.
