The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has taken confident steps toward establishing the Egyptian regulatory system as a globally recognized benchmark. In pursuit of this objective, the fifth edition of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia has been issued in a more comprehensive format, featuring the publication of 2,500 monographs and general chapters. This achievement represents 75% of the 2025 target of 3,400 monographs, marking a significant leap toward harmonization with international pharmaceutical standards and positioning Egypt among the world's leading reference countries. 

The Egyptian Pharmacopoeia serves as a bridge to excellence and global integration. Its fifth edition will encompass all pharmaceutical products circulating in the Egyptian market, mirroring the scope of leading international pharmacopoeias. This update not only strengthens local healthcare but also integrates Egypt into the global pharmaceutical dialogue, supporting international trade and fostering innovation. 

The new edition also represents a major milestone in digital transformation. The targeted content is already available through the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia's digital platforms, in line with a timeline launched in June 2024. This digital transformation enhances accessibility for pharmaceutical professionals, companies, and regulatory bodies, facilitating compliance with legislation and enabling timely updates within a dynamic framework. 

These extensive efforts have placed Egypt among advanced reference countries. The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) contains approximately 5,000 monographs, the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) includes around 2,900 monographs, the British Pharmacopoeia (BP) contains 4,000 monographs, and the Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP) comprises nearly 2,000 monographs.
