Prof. Dr. Ayman El-Khatib, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), participated in the opening of the Drug Information Association (DIA) Middle East and North Africa Conference, hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt from 26 to 27 November 2024.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. El-Khatib warmly welcomed all participants and partner organizations attending this year's conference. He expressed the Egyptian Drug Authority’s pride in hosting this important regional event, which brings together leading figures from the pharmaceutical industry, representatives of regional and international regulatory authorities, and distinguished academics specializing in various areas of pharmaceutical research.
The Vice Chairman reaffirmed the Egyptian Drug Authority’s commitment to fostering innovation and advancing regulatory systems to ensure the availability of safe and effective medicines for all patients. He further emphasized the Authority’s dedication
to strengthening regional and international cooperation in pursuit of greater regulatory convergence and harmonization.
The conference aims to create an interactive platform that enables stakeholders to address the challenges shaping the future of the pharmaceutical industry, agree on realistic scenarios, and explore the most effective pathways for moving forward through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions.
The strength of the conference lies in its broad representation of stakeholders involved throughout the medicine development lifecycle, ranging from health authorities, industry leaders, and academic experts to patient representatives. Discussions focus on several key themes, including regional regulatory developments, regulatory strategies, regulatory convergence and harmonization, digital transformation, pharmacovigilance, and innovation.
