The Egyptian Drug Authority held an introductory workshop on the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia
The Egyptian Drug Authority held an introductory workshop on the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia today at the Authority’s headquarters in Mansouria, with the attendance of representatives of the central administrations and the various sectors of the Authority.
The workshop, which was held under the supervision of Dr. Tamer Elhossieny, Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority and Chairman of the Standing Committee for Drafting the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia, included scientific sessions and practical lectures on introducing the Pharmacopoeia and its technical content of monographs and general chapters, the mechanisms of their issuance, and their role in setting the standard specifications for pharmaceutical raw materials and finished products, as well as unifying methods of analysis and laboratory testing.
The workshop also highlighted international partnerships and cooperation with global pharmacopoeias such as the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and the International Pharmacopoeia, in a way that contributes to enhancing the status of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia in international and global forums, and supports the pharmaceutical industry and the development of the pharmaceutical market.
It is worth noting that the fifth edition of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia represents one of the most prominent scientific and regulatory achievements accomplished by the Authority in recent years, as it is considered the official national reference for controlling the quality of pharmaceutical products and ensuring their safety and effectiveness, in line with the latest global practices.
The Egyptian Pharmacopoeia represents a strategic step that reflects the commitment of the State and the Authority to enhancing the competitiveness of the national industry regionally and internationally. It is also a key tool for control and quality laboratories and pharmaceutical companies, in addition to its importance for universities and research centers.
