The Permanent Committee for the Drafting of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia, chaired by Dr. Ayman El-Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), convened its eighth session dedicated to discussing the mechanisms for the development of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia. The meeting was attended by Dr. Tamer Essam, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, and Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs.
During the meeting, participants reviewed twenty final draft monographs covering various categories, in addition to a list of general chapters prepared for inclusion in the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia. Discussions also addressed the mechanisms governing the publication of monographs and general chapters, nominations of experts and specialists from various disciplines for membership in subcommittees and expert panels, and a proposal concerning the provision of reference standards required for the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia.
The meeting further reviewed recent developments related to the terms and conditions governing copyright, reproduction, and citation rights associated with the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), as well as the outcomes of the training activities provided by USP.
The meeting was attended by Counselor Dr. Mohamed El-Demerdash, Vice President of the State Council and Legal Advisor to the Egyptian Drug Authority; Dr. Medhat Ahmed Abdel Hamid El-Ghobashy, representing the Egyptian Drug Authority; Dr. Moselhy Ragab and Dr. Mohamed Zakaria Gad, members of the Board of Directors of the Authority; Major General Pharmacist Tarek Mohamed Abdel Rahman, representing the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and Technology Management; Dr. Maher Mohamed El-Demiaty, representing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Dr. Abdel Nasser Badawy Sengab, representing the Ministry of Health and Population; Dr. Ghada Ahmed Abdel Bari, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, representing faculties of pharmacy; and Dr. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, representing faculties of pharmacy.
