Egyptian Pharmacopoeia Committee Reviews 5th Edition Updates
The Egyptian Pharmacopoeia Drafting Committee convened its twelfth meeting at the headquarters of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) in Agouza to review the latest developments concerning the preparation of the fifth edition of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs; Dr. Ayman El-Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority; as well as members of the Committee comprising professors from Egyptian universities and experts representing several governmental entities and institutions. Specialists responsible for the development of the Pharmacopoeia content within the Egyptian Drug Authority also participated in the meeting.
Discussions focused on monitoring the progress of work related to the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia in accordance with the approved regulatory framework and implementation roadmap.
The Committee also reviewed recent developments concerning the launch of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia mobile application and the digital presentation of its content. In addition, participants discussed the scientific and advisory services provided through the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia to support the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector in Egypt.
The meeting further addressed the outcomes of proficiency testing activities and reviewed recent developments related to the availability of reference standards required to support the development and implementation of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia.
These initiatives underscore the Egyptian Drug Authority’s commitment to establishing a modern and comprehensive national pharmacopoeial reference aligned with international best practices. They also reflect the Authority’s ongoing efforts to advance digital transformation, strengthen scientific infrastructure, and provide the pharmaceutical sector with the tools and services necessary to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicinal products.
