Under the Patronage of the Egyptian Drug Authority, the United States Pharmacopeia Conference Held in Cairo
Dr. Tamer Essam, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), participated in the opening ceremony of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Conference, which was held under the patronage and with the participation of the Egyptian Drug Authority. The event was attended by Dr. Ayman El-Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority; Dr. Rasha Ziada, Assistant to the Chairman for Technical Development and Capacity Building; Dr. Medhat El-Ghobashy, Advisor to the Chairman for Reference and Regulatory Laboratories Affairs; Counselor Dr. Mohamed El-Demerdash, Legal Advisor to the Authority and Vice President of the State Council; Dr. Gamal El-Leithy, Chairman of the Chamber of Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic and Medical Device Industries; several heads of central administrations within the Authority; and representatives of international and local pharmaceutical companies.
In his remarks, Dr. Tamer Essam emphasized the depth of the strategic partnership between the Egyptian Drug Authority and the United States Pharmacopeia, which represents one of the world's leading pharmacopoeial references and serves as a cornerstone for the development of internationally recognized standards and best practices governing pharmaceutical oversight, with the ultimate objective of ensuring patients' access to safe and effective medicines.
The conference featured a series of specialized training workshops and panel discussions addressing key topics related to pharmaceutical regulation, quality oversight, and the control of pharmaceutical raw materials.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Drug Authority hosted the Chief Executive Officer of the United States Pharmacopeia in November of the previous year, during which both parties discussed avenues for expanding bilateral cooperation and leveraging U.S. expertise to support the development of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia.
The Egyptian Drug Authority's sponsorship and participation in this event underscore its continued commitment to maintaining close coordination and consultation with international stakeholders in order to adopt and implement globally recognized standards in pharmaceutical regulation. These efforts also support the development of long-term strategic plans and facilitate the exchange of technical expertise, thereby contributing to the continued advancement of Egypt's regulatory and pharmaceutical sectors.
