Under the slogan ""Together towards achieving Egypt 2030 vision (Egyptian Exports - Global Competitiveness
The Egyptian Drug Authority organized a celebration to honor number pharmaceutical and medical supplies industry success parteners in recognition to their efforts to increase their exports of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies and their contribution to the rapid access of Egyptian medical products according to international standards for development and manufacturing. The celebration also included the Pharmaceutical Industry Chamber and the Export Council for Medical Industries for their prominent role in supporting the national industry.
The celebration was resided by presidency of Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, the President counsel for Health and prevention Affairs, General Doctor Bahaa El Din Zidan, Chairman of the Egyptian Unified Procurement and Medical Supply Agency, Dr. Tamer Essam, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, and Dr. Mohamed El Damrdash, Deputy Head of the State Council and Legal counsel of the Egyptian Drug Authority, along with the presence of the Egyptian Drug Authority’s leaderships and senior industry partners.
Dr. Tamer Essam, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, praised the efforts of national companies during the past period and assured that both Egyptian Drug Authority and the Unified Procurement Authority are working together according to a clear and specific strategy to support the access of Egyptian medical products abroad.
He also confirmed that the cosmetics sector is witnessing a major breakthrough and that Egyptian cosmetics are currently being exported to Europe. They are currently seeking to diversify the export strategy in the African continent to include French-speaking countries, alongside with English-speaking ones. He also emphasized that tackling drug counterfeiting contributes to the development of the capabilities of national industry companies and represents a key pillar of protection for the national industry. He also mentioned that the Egyptian veterinary pharmaceutical industry has a promising future in the coming period.
On his part, Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, the President councel for Health and Prevention Affairs, affirmed the importance of the export sector, and that the pharmaceutical sector is currently witnessing an unprecedented boom. He praised the efforts of industry partners and their prominent role in serving the country and supporting Egypt's regional leadership.
Major General Bahaa El-Din Zedan, Chairman of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority, also praised the efforts of Egyptian pharmaceutical companies and expressed his appreciation for their highly important role on the international stage. He emphasized that they are an integral part of the Egyptian state's strategy and economic aspirations.
During the ceremony, the Egyptian Drug Authority launched a new initiative to support exports, through the release of ""EDA PharmaLand,"" book, which aims to reflect the Egyptian pharmaceutical landscape and present it in a simple and comprehensive manner to the global community.
The book reflects three main features of the Egyptian pharmaceutical market derived from the three letters of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA): "" Authenticity,"" ""Diversity,"" and "" Expandability.""
It is worth mentioning that the selection of the honored companies was based on two important criteria: first is the efforts and steps taken by the companies to meet international standards for development and manufacturing to support their products to comply with global export specifications, including the preparation of specific medical product files according to international standards (CTD files), and obtaining international accreditation for their production lines (international GMP accreditation). Additionally, the companies' export performance, based on their export figures in 2023, and the significant growth in export rates during that year.
This comes along with the Egyptian Drug Authority's keenness to increase international competitiveness and increase Egyptian pharmaceutical products and medical supplies exports.
