The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) convened the sixth meeting of the Permanent Committee for the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia, chaired by Dr. Ayman El-Khatib, Vice President of the Authority. During the meeting, the appointment of Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, as a member of the Permanent Committee for the development of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia was officially announced.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of a workshop marking the launch of the Proficiency Testing Program, which aims to verify the reliability of analytical results generated by quality control laboratories. The initiative is intended to enhance confidence in testing outcomes, identify opportunities for capacity building and

continuous improvement, and ultimately support patient access to safe and effective medicines.

Participants also reviewed the progress achieved in the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia project. It was confirmed that the Pharmacopoeia would be issued in an electronic format in line with technological advancements and Egypt's national digital transformation strategy. In addition, the work of the Committee would be continuously digitized to ensure efficiency and facilitate regular updates.

A proposed implementation timeline for the issuance of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia was presented, including its organizational framework. The meeting also reviewed internationally recognized approaches for the development and publication of pharmacopoeial monographs, as well as ongoing coordination with international organizations and relevant stakeholders in this regard.

Furthermore, the Committee agreed to engage a broad range of national entities and experts in order to benefit from their scientific and technical expertise and to establish effective partnerships in support of the Egyptian Pharmacopoeia project. Such collaboration is considered essential to the success of one of the Egyptian Drug Authority's most strategic initiatives, which is expected to deliver substantial benefits to the Egyptian pharmaceutical sector.
